Funk Off will release their sixth album "Things Change" in May 2016. Things have indeed changed and continue to do so, in fact, the band has been taking on more black music, capturing the essence of soul music. With "Things Change" Funk Off starts a new chapter yet maintains that dynamic, intense energy evident in their live shows. As in their previous works, the notes, the groove, the chemistry and empathy all build up in a unique emotional experience, leading to a collection of musical ideas and creating something wholly unique among these fifteen musicians led by Dario Cecchini. The album also includes Talking Pictures which is a song deeply reminiscent of a ballad/beguine, markedly differing from Funk Off’s style. The title track Things Change, is the song that seems to summarize this album - with a swaggering, relaxed, cheerful groove but also more introspective than the other tracks.

MWX vs. HRJ is a collaboration between the three internationally renowned Chinese modernist-music musicians Min Xiao Fen, Wu Wei, Xu Feng Xia, and the three famous Chinese jazz musicians Ren Yu Qing, Huang Jian Yi, and Jhonny Joseph. The six of them together create a fusion of Eastern and Western musical elements highlighted by superb free improvisation.

MWX was formed in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on February 10th of 2009. The name is a collection of the surnames of Min Xiao Fen, Wu Wei, and Xu Feng Xia as an interpretation of the Taoist ideology of thinking. The trio has attempted to show the endless boundaries of music and musical application through their collaborations with many of the world’s different artists to include a wide range of art and influences, taking traditional Chinese instruments to create an orchestra performing free improvisations, as well as experimenting with the combination of the human voice with musical instruments. Their performances are based on using traditional Chinese instruments to create new improvised works that present the Chinese culture. Their source of inspiration comes from the world of modern art, their strong local opera scene and folk music, literature, and poetry, all serving to help form their unique artistic personality. These pioneers of Chinese modern music had been invited to perform in Netherlands, Sweden, Austria, and the United States, receiving much praise for their performances.

Ren Yu Qing, Jazz bass musician and a founder of the JZ Festival, has invited MWX to perform at the 2016 JZ Festival with him alongside China’s first Jazz pianist Huang Jian Yi and drummer Jhonny Joseph from Mauritius.

The Swiss-South African band The Rainmakers, formed around the internationally acclaimed bassist Bänz Oester, recorded their debut album at Jazz Club Bird’s Eye in Basel in 2012. On their latest, and second live album, they follow in the footsteps of Coltrane. Their use of the legendary Jacques Brel chanson “Amsterdam”, and the evergreen Swiss hit “Dr Schacher Seppli”, is breathtaking. The five remaining numbers are only slightly less spectacular. The Rainmakers are therefore undoubtedly a typical live band, and that is why it makes sense that they did not lock themselves up in a studio to record their second CD – a lion in the wild is much more majestic than one in the zoo.

The Rainmakers are a prime example of this fruitful exchange between North and South. The bandleader and bassist, Bänz Oester, and Ganesh Geymeier on tenor sax, come from Switzerland; the pianist Afrika Mkhize and drummer Ayanda Sikade count among the new continent-hopping talents from South Africa. The four of them form a close-knit, inseparable unit. In other words, we are dealing with a formation in which individual strengths are not showcased in egocentric fashion, but are transformed into a collective energy.

Ever since that time Nils Landren has been involved in most styles equally: jazz and rock, soul and hip hop, big band sessions, and by his own reckoning, at least 500 albums including such internationals stars as ABBA, The Crusaders, Eddie Harris, Bernard “Pretty” Purdie, Wyclef Jean and Herbie Hancock.

In 1992,Nils Landgren found the band “unit”. The final breakthrough beyond Scandinavia came first in 1994: it was at the Jazz Baltica Festival at Salzau in Germany that the “Unit” became the “Funk Unit”. The album “Live in Stockholm” was released that year and was the foundation for the collaboration with Siegfried Loch and his then young ACT label. The next Funk Unit release, “Paint It Blue” was one of 1997’s most successful albums and received Germany’s Jazz Award. The following tour of over 100 dates gave Nils Landgren and the Funk Unit their breakthrough in Germany. Music knows no borders, music is freedom – this is Nils Landgren’s credo.

Born in 1978, Ludovic Beier learned the accordion from his father and benefits from being part of a musical family. He was brought up in the French tradition of the instrument and turned to jazz at young age. At only 24 years old, he was playing on the French, European and American scene with some of the top players of the Jazz style including Angelo Debarre, Dorado Schmitt, Martin Taylor, Stochelo Rosenberg, Paquito D’Rivera, James Carter. He also received congratulations from George Benson.

In 2006, even with Toots Thielemans at Carnegie Hall in New York City along with Herbie Hancock and Ivan Lins, for the concert produced by Pat Philips and Ettore Stratta…He also had the great chance to play at top festivals and places around the world and especially in the US with Dorado Schmitt: Kennedy Center in DC, San Francisco Festival, the new Disney Hall in Los Angeles, Chicago Symphony Hall, Kimmel Center for the Arts in Philadelphia, Birdland (NYC), Olympia, Salle Pleyel (Paris), Blue Note (Milano), Festival de Jazz de Montreal (Canada), Phoenix Hall (Osaka- Japan) and will be part of the Newport Jazz Festival in 2014.

Death in Vegas is an English music group, headed up by Richard Maguire. Influenced by a wide range of musical genres including rock, electronica, krautrock, dub and industrial, the band's sound is constantly changing, moving between live rock sounds and electronica. The band was formed in 1994 by Maguire and signed to Concrete Records. The first album, Dead Elvis, was a mixture of many musical genres, although most of the tracks are predominantly based in electronica. The band's second album, The Contino Sessions (1999), marked a slight change in direction with more attention to live instrumentation than their first and the inclusion of guest vocalists (including Dot Allison, Bobby Gillespie, Iggy Pop, and Jim Reid).

In September 2002, the band released their third album, Scorpio Rising, after almost a three-year gap. During their time off, the band had toured and briefly returned to their techno roots with the track "Scorpio", which, although not appearing on any album, was included as the B-side of "Hands Around My Throat". It also continued to attract attention from advertisers and filmmakers with "Hands Around My Throat" being used in a Sony Ericsson advert and appearing on the soundtrack to The Animatrix, while the track "Girls" was used on the soundtracks to Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation.

In 2016, Death In Vegas released the 6th Studio Albums “Transmission” and performed in Berlin Atonal Music Festival as the headline bands. Then they will hit in JZ Festival Shanghai this October.

Soulspeak Vs Ttechmak is collaboration between Los Angeles producer Soulspeak and Australian trumpet player Ttechmak.  They will be featuring Danimal, a Detroit techno city veteran on bass.  Their music fuses low end speaker blowing bass, left-field hip hop beats, environmental field recordings, jazz, house, and techno with lots of improvisation.  Live they are continuously on the search for new sounds and ways to meld free form music and electronics.

In the summer of 2016, after 2 years of hard work, Soulspeak and TTechmak returned to their control stations, taking all of you hot-summer-night-insomniacs on a ride to this uncharted alternative universe. Rusty machines, mountains of ice cream, two headed dragons and drunken monks…will be the scenery for this journey.  Their album “Love in the Land of Robots,” released on Ran Music, is where the search begins and this album gives an rainbow to those who want to build an alternative route out of this muggy urban rat race.
