Theo Croker+Tia Ray

As the grandson of  the late trumpeter Doc Cheatham, and former student of legendary jazz trumpeter Donald Byrd, trumpeter Theo Croker is an artist steeped in jazz tradition. Well-versed in the swing, bop, and modal styles of acoustic jazz, Croker's own music reveals a love of organic funk, soul, and gooey, groove-oriented hip-hop. It's a vital amalgam that would have pleased the forward-thinking Byrd, whose own '70s funk-jazz albums are an obvious touchstone for Croker on his hypnotically enlightened 2016 effort Escape Velocity. Theo Croker’s 2016 release “Escape Velocity” is ranked the #1 Jazz Album in the UK by Echoes Magazine.

Tia Ray was born in Anjiang Township, Huaihua, in central China's Hunan Province. Among her attributes is songwriting featuring neo-soul, r&b, jazz styling. She is the lead singer of the ThaKnutZ Band, China's only band to blend r&b, soul, hip-hop and funk musical styling on a jazz base. Her single “Love Can Fly” was being warmly welcomed after airplay on many radio stations. Tia became well known overnight with the song “Curvy Moon” she sang in talent show The Voice of China. Her perfect singing of Crazy is emanates from the bottom of her soul. At the end of 2014, Tia released her first album <T.I.A.> and received Best Soul/R&B Album of JZ Awards, Best Youth Singer & Best Performance of 10th Music King Awards. Let’s witness a neo-soul star rising up.
